Businesses and people are understandably struggling right now.
Whilst it is absolutely an - over used word alert - unprecedented time for virtually everyone in business, those that behave with integrity and kindness towards their staff and customers will ultimately stand a much higher chance of thriving when we come out the other side of this pandemic.
We have two ears and one mouth for a reason, use them like you have never used them before at this time to listen to your customer’s needs.
Many companies are leading by example, from donating products, raising money for those in need and showing true compassion and kindness.
Frankly, a 101 of what not to do in a crisis. True colours have clearly become apparent and when an organisation shows those true colours unintentionally, pay attention.
It has even been reported that some companies have forced staff to work in an unsafe environment and then advertised NHS staff discounts – wow, just wow.
Always look for a positive outcome.
With more to come, I am sure there is already enough doom-and-gloom in 2020 so let’s focus on how, as a business community, we come together to support each other during this crisis. We all have bills to pay but putting people before profits has never been so important.
As an organisation, we are taking notes and post COVID will be working with those who (whether someone is watching or not) are doing the right thing…
Let us not cut off our noses to spite our faces.. before reacting and causing irreversible damage with a client, how about, we instead respond calmly, behave with integrity and always look for a win-win, mutually positive outcome that will maintain relationships long term.
And remember, an elephant never forgets.
